i hadnt wanted to throw my two cents but here we go,
phil i know from personal experience riding that xt and believe me its a nice RELIABLE CHEAP bike but im not sure its what your looking for, yeah sure its lower and cheaper but i would say that the xt is a lightduty off road bike and the wr the heavy duty edition, one will get you there and the other will get you there SMILING witch is to me the whole porpouse of riding, ill take a lowered wr anyday of the week, i wish i didnt have so much on my plate nowdays financially to go and get a nice white one, thats my two cents...get something thats going to leave you satisfied and not wanting more after a couple of months when u outgrow it, sure the wr is a bit more expensive but if you have to go and replace the xt 6 months to a year down the road you will surely loose more money and believe me im a youngster but im all about cost effective decisions.

Thanks for your insight LULO. You are absolutly right about the WR being a much better bike. The XT on the other hand is alot like the dualsport bikes I owned in my younger days. When I ride offroad I"m not really that hardcore like Tammy is, I think of it as more as motorized hiking. I am going to be riding alot with my 13 year old son, Jonas, this comming summer and I just think that the XT is more my (and his) speed. I just don't go that fast
. The XT will do 60-65 comfortably and really that s all I need. I hope to never have to take it on the freeway, thats why I have the Wee. I'm still a couple of months away from buying a bike anyway, so I have time to ponder still. I am going to the bike show in NYC in Jan. and I'll do some more looking there.

Phil you can ride it in the gap all day if you like.. I'll meet you one day and switch bikes with you so you can give it hell on the WR..
P.S. You can go just as slow on the WR as the XT but you can't go as fast on the XT as you can on the WR Just say`n is all....

a better bike makes you a better rider, you can alway outgrow a bike but a bike will never outgrow you....

Thanks Tammy, I'd love to.
I just want to ride it for 30 or 40 minutes.
I found a stepped seat for the Wr that lowers the seat height by 1.5 inches so.... 1.5 inches for the seat, 1 inch by lowering the stock link, 2 inches using a Yamalink.... total 4.5 inches. I think i've found the winner
. Now the search for one gets on track.
